Hi Nathan, do you know of anyone who has adapted your letter and is using it to submit to local govt councils in metro Melbourne here in Australia? If so I would like to get in touch with them. Also, do you recall we were in a Slack group a few years back with Joseph Mertz? - and met on a call with Shaun too. You are doing great work and it has inspired me to want to put something together for my local area. I bet you see that all the years of preparation can only be put into practice now when a crisis of this level appears and then things that were dismissed or mocked might now be on the table? Or the expression, when the water is at our feet, there is not much we can do, but when it is up to our waist we can swim. something like that ;-)

Dammit, that was wishful thinking on my part, clearly... Don't know why I thought that had happened, too many things buzzing around in my head at the moment. I'll amend the text accordingly.
Hey Nathan. NZ is rich in proven oil reserves. In 2022 the refinery ceased oprration. From that point on a nunber of people have demanded the reinstatement because it was obvious that NZ was going to be exposed to exactly todays issue. The only option for NZ is to get our oil idustry back up and running forthwith. It does not immediatly solve the present crisis but we are now having to deal with it howrver we can until we again become self suffient. In 2003, Marsden Point supplied 70% of our Petrol and 90% of our diesel let alone numerous high quality by products.
Tell that to the oil companies who came up with nothing in the decade of expression leading up to the 2018 ban... I'd it was there and economic to extract we'd be doing it.
